OUR HISTORY
Strong, flexible & sustainable—like the name suggests!
The idea of Strong Oak Farm came up some years ago when we were in the middle of refinancing to undertake work on the house during the epidemic. We’ve had a couple of acres of land that we’ve been sitting on, unsure what to do with it.
Starting an organic farm seemed like a great idea on the vacant land since we didn’t have the heart for anything else after all that nature has given us—land with potential!
Fast forward to pandemic times when materials prices skyrocketed; things started to look different. We ran into several issues, including our son’s struggle to find work that motivated us to reconsider farming.
As luck would have it, we were talking to people around, and doors began to open for us. We started to meet the right people and obtain the resources we needed.
Meaning behind the name
Before choosing ‘Strong Oak Farm’ (that immediately popped up into my mind), we discussed several possible names for the farm. The meaning behind it is to signify all our family has gone through, including losses and setbacks, yet we remain strong and keep moving forward, much like the big oak, which bends but never breaks.
We envision being a successful business and a valuable member of our community by providing the freshest and organically grown vegetables for everybody to enjoy, which means we will use only organic growing and harvesting methods with no pesticides.
